A BACP and BPC registered counsellor working with adult individuals

Amy Snowden Counselling BCAP

Welcome

Coming to counselling for the first time can feel daunting. I offer a peaceful and private space where I can help you to make sense of things, and work at your pace.

I work with a wide range of emotional difficulties and life challenges and am registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

What I can offer you

You may be feeling anxious, low, angry or be struggling with relationships. Perhaps you don’t really know what is going wrong, but are simply finding life overwhelming. There may be events or residual feelings from the past that feel hard to reconcile or think about, or cycles that you feel trapped in.

I offer weekly counselling for adult individuals, face-to-face or online. The basis of my work is Psychodynamic, a model that focuses on talking about how past experiences and relationships may affect your present. I can help you to think about both, and together we can unpick things that feel too difficult to work through on your own. I may also offer insight into a situation so that we can look at it with a different perspective. I work with honesty, impartiality and respect.

Some of the issues I work with:

– Depression & low mood
– Anxiety & stress
– Relationship issues
– Life stage issues
– Loss, grief & bereavement

– Attachment based issues
– Physical, emotional & sexual abuse
– Self-esteem
– Trauma
– Obsessions

£50 per session

Payable by BACs or cash, charged on a monthly basis. Fees are reviewed annually in April

Once you have contacted me, we will have an initial short phone call (fifteen to 30 minutes, free of charge), for you to tell me a bit about what is bringing you to counselling, and to think about both our weekly availability. If it feels that the counselling might be useful to you, we will arrange an initial session.

Sessions are 50 minutes’ long.

We will have a session or two for you to tell me about what is going on for you and a little of your past history.  We can also think about whether we are a good fit. If we decide to continue, sessions will be held on the same day and at the same time every week.

Online sessions are normally held via Zoom, and you will be sent a recurring weekly link for this.

Your regular session time will be held for you every week, whether you attend or not. Therefore all missed sessions must be paid for, regardless of the reason. If you are unable to attend a session, occasionally I will be able to offer an alternative time, but this is not always possible.

You will not be charged for sessions during my breaks. I will always give at least 4 weeks’ notice of my breaks.

There is no time limit on sessions and they can be open-ended or shorter-term, depending on your circumstances.
